Many people today are looking for truth and clarity in religion, and no longer find them in the religion they grew up in. If you're like them, you've heard a little or a lot about Judaism and want to know more.
Others are attracted to the beautiful spiritual discipline that Jewish life can be, having seen families gather for a Shabbat dinner or a Passover seder.
Along with non-Jews who want to learn about Judaism, whether they hope to convert to Judaism or just want to learn, there are also Jews who find as adults that they're not satisfied with the education they got in Hebrew school as kids. They, too, want to learn what Judaism is really about, on an adult level.
I'm Rabbi Steven Schwarzman, and over the years I've been a rabbi, I've taught Judaism to hundreds of people like you. Now I'm offering this learning online so you can begin learning about Judaism on your own schedule, wherever you are.

Introduction to Judaism course
The Introduction to Judaism class at Judaism Online is a great place to start your Jewish learning. Here's a taste of what you'll learn.
Jewish texts
We'll study Torah (that's the Bible's books of Genesis through Deuteronomy) with traditional commentaries, other books of the Hebrew Bible with commentaries, Mishnah and Gemarah (which together make up the Talmud), and Midrash (rabbinic interpretations of the Hebrew Bible). We'll also learn from the Siddur, the Jewish prayer book.
All texts will be in both Hebrew and English, so no worries if you don't yet know Hebrew.

Jewish thought, beliefs, and history
We'll learn the Hebrew alef-bet and basic Hebrew reading, Halakhah (Jewish law), and Jewish beliefs.
And we'll learn the basics of Jewish history in antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the modern era, including the Holocaust and the rebirth of Israel.

Jewish practice
Along with learning the whats and the whys, we'll also learn the hows of being Jewish, putting those Jewish beliefs and thoughts into practice.
We'll learn how to observe Shabbat and Jewish holidays, Kashrut (how to keep kosher), and we'll go through the Jewish lifecycle, from birth to death (and beyond).

Hi, I'm Rabbi Steven Schwarzman, and I'm here to teach you about Judaism. I created Judaism Online to help people learn about Judaism wherever they are, on their own (busy) schedules.
I've served synagogues in the US and Canada, and now live in Jerusalem. I was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York in 2008.
Before that, I worked as a writer and translator, including 14 years as a trainer for a leading Israeli tech company, and I've published four books.
