Ask the Rabbi/Consult with the Rabbi

Apr 20, 2025

Over the last I-don't-know-quite-how-many-years, "coaching" has sprung up in a plethora of surprising places. I suppose there may have always been business coaches, maybe career coaches, and birthing coaches. To these have been added all kinds of coaches, including "life coaches" - though the ones I've known personally haven't been all that successful in life themselves. Could be a small sample size on my part.

So, with this (coaching) definitely not in mind, I'm pleased to announce my availability for online rabbinic consultations. You may have questions about Judaism, about your studies here at Judaism Online, about how to live your life Jewishly with all the complexities that happen in a real life. You may want to delve into deep conversation with me, the rabbi, to discuss things that came up as you watched one of my lessons. And of course, if you're considering converting to Judaism, that's an excellent reason to want to have an actual conversation with a rabbi, namely me in this case, to discuss your particular circumstances and path.

How do these online consultations with a rabbi work? You book a time, which should be coordinated with my calendar if the tech works correctly, and it looks like it does. We can chat about any Jewish subject you like, including how said subject relates to you personally and any issues you are facing personally that have to do with Judaism. We'll do our best to cover what you want/need in the time that you booked (sessions can be 30 or 60 minutes), and if you want more sessions, you can book those as well. Just keep in mind that I'm a rabbi. I'm not a social worker or a psychotherapist, and can't offer you counseling aside from the spiritual variety.

So, now you can truly Ask the Rabbi/Consult with the Rabbi right here on Judaism Online.

PS - if the available appointment times look funny, remember that I live in Jerusalem.
